Hey, gang! It feels so good to dust off my blog and give you an update on all that’s happening with my books and me. I have a lot to tell you!
Let’s start with a recap of 2021: I had an awesome year.
Sure, it sucked in terms of the ongoing pandemic and the many sad and bitter events happening around the world. But, as the old saying goes, when the world’s a total dumpster fire filled with stinky poo, make lemonade.
Okay, that’s not how the saying goes. Still, check out my lemonade:
This past year, I published two standalone books in the Kari Hunter universe. The first one is Saturday Night Necromancy, a prequel to the Kari Hunter series. Kari’s in it. It’s adorable and fun, if you don’t mind a guy who repeatedly crashes another necromancer’s dates and terrorizes the local immortal Scrabble Club in his quest to save the world.
I certainly don’t mind.
Mid-year, I published Stone Cold Necromancy, a standalone story featuring Mikelis and his talking sacrificial knives—and this book is free for all subscribers to my new release notifications. So, sign up and dig in!
I used to call this list the “new release alerts,” but the word “alert” kind of stresses me out. Like grandma fell and can’t get up, so someone should alert me. Instead, I’m going with “notifications.” When my new books come out, you’ll receive a nice email, personally written by me and edited to perfection by the Spouseditor (*chef’s kiss*).
And I promise you want to get on this list because next year I have four books coming out. That’s right! This slowpoke finally figured out how to write faster.
Next year, you’re getting the third installment in the Kari Hunter uh, adventure? Saga? Mystery? Chaos? Hilarity? Buckle up for all of the above because the world’s worst necromancer and her talking sacrificial knives are back… and this time, she’s bringing Moons.

I’m excited to say that Kari Hunter book 3 will be out next year. No release date on this yet, but I’ve been hard at work on the story and the writing is happening fast. Faster than I’ve ever written before. I’ve said before that I’d hoped to be done with the draft by the end of the year—I even participated in National Novel Writing Month in the hopes that I’d hit that goal. And it paid off! The draft is on track to be done around the end of the year. So, stay tuned for that.
In addition to the new Kari Hunter book, I’ve been working on a new trilogy in a completely new universe!
(No, no, I haven’t been abducted by aliens and replaced with someone who can write faster. I’ve just learned and overcome a lot in the last year and a half. Books are happening at a record pace for me. AT LAST!)
But back to the new trilogy. The first book is almost finished and the second is in progress. It’s still too early to talk about this new series, but I can tell you that it’s a completely separate universe from Kari Hunter. A different magic system, with tech and hilarious hijinks. Just like my other books, they’ll contain magic and mayhem and happy endings. Also, a stalking vending machine robot.
I can’t wait for you to read them.
So, join my new release notifications list and drink a little of the lemonade I made this year. You’ll also hear from me as soon as Kari book 3 is done.
I’m looking forward to 2022 and putting hilarious, feel-good urban fantasies in your hands.
Cheers to the new year!
